Growing in faith takes place in many ways. Our own daily time of prayer, reading of the Scriptures, and personal devotions, nourish our faith.
But the way of Jesus is, first and foremost, the way of a community of faith. When Jesus establishes his church, he sends the disciples, together, to pray with Mary in the Upper Room. Before each was sent on their mission in the service of the Good News, they together received the Holy Spirit.
So our personal spiritual life takes its origins from the community of believers, and is constantly enriched anew by our regularly being part of that community of faith.
The source, and summit, of the Church's life is the Eucharist. The weekly proclamation of the Lord's Death and Resurrection is the place where we hear and reflect on God's Word in the Scriptures, and where we once again call down the Spirit to make Jesus present for us as our Bread of Life.
In addition, we need to keep growing, using the strength we receive from Sunday Mass!
For young people, learning the ways of the faith, and preparing to complete their initiation as Christians in the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation, takes place in Faith Formation classes. Our program meets after the 10am Sunday Mass from 11:10 to 12:10.
For adults, our Wednesday evening gatherings cover a variety of topics, by season. We meet in a large group, and then in small groups for prayer.
